Dear Parents and Friends,

We thought you might like a Monique update.  Everyone is healthy and has gone though the winter with just a few sniffles. Kayla is beginning to relax a bit and has made several friends at school. The girls have even had weekend play dates.  This is a huge step in Kayla’s’ recovery.  Jeremiah just likes to play.   He is seldom without his own “Superstar” cape (a bathroom towel). Monique is working more hours and she is grateful for the opportunity. As a family they are slowly moving forward and your generous and kind support has been a significant part of their recovery.

As in the past two years we will provide Easter dinner for them, along with some surprises!

We will have our final food and “treasures” drive for Monique the end of May. Perhaps, starting now, when you go to the store you can purchase an extra item and start a Monique bag.  Anything from a bar of soap, a roll of TP to a can or box will be a wonderful contribution.

Thank You for you support,

Tiny Tot Staff

Dear Parents

A reminder about Tiny Tot’s commitment to a needy family ……Each year Tiny Tot “adopts” a needy family through Heartland Alliance. Adopting a family is a huge endeavor and a commitment we take very seriously.  As a school community we support our family in a number of ways.  We have a food drive in the fall and spring.  In November we try to supply Thanksgiving Dinner and in December, we provide Christmas gifts and dinner.

Just last week we were able to give Monique a “Spring Surprise”. The family will have Easter dinner and all the trimmings so to speak as well as spring finery for the children and “bunny” surprises. All treat donations went toward our surprise. I have attached a letter from Miss Terri who is our helper with school fund raisers and Heartland Alliance. Terri’s son Paul attended Tiny Tot over 20 years ago and has always been part of our TT Family.

Our family consists of Monique and two young children.  Growing up Monique lived in an abusive home.  She left home at 17.  She married young and her spouse abused her and the children as they came along.  Monique escaped with her children to a Heartland Alliance shelter and has been transitioned to her own apartment.  Due to the severity of the abuse, we decided to stay with our family for a second year. Monique’s case worker is most pleased with the progress our family has made and believes it is in large part due to our support and has asked us if we would stay with her one more year. The staff and I support this 100% and hope you do also.

Monique is 26, Kayla is 6 and Jeremiah is 3. They are doing so much better than when we first began our journey with Monique over a year ago. Kayla has reached the low end of average on the growth chart and started kindergarten last September. Jeremiah is completely potty trained.

Monique is humbled and so grateful for our help and support.

We will have our Spring food drive the end of this month.  We get a list of needs from the case worked and we post the list in the front hall. Donations of any kind are always needed, accepted and greatly appreciated.

Take a look at savvysource.com  It is a website for parents with several resources  They also have deals of the day.  We will receive 5% of anything purchased on line if you list Tiny Tot as your preschool.

Another reminder….if you order Scholastic Books, please place your order online with your credit card. We will receive a coupon that enables us to receive books for Tiny Tot.

Sincerely,

Bonnie Shanahan
